Marshal Nova's character design is based on actor Dolph Lundgren in his role as Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.
During the opening of campaign 3, it is shown that Brigadier Betty resting her hand on him, which could mean a possible love interest. However, another clue is that he looks wistfully at a picture of him with meeting Empress Lei-Qo, implying unrequitted feelings.
